The Gables in Kingham – Aged and tumbled engineered wood flooring to Barn conversion
Mazon Flooring has proudly collaborated with Marcus and Paula over several years, supporting their journey to renovate and enhance two exceptional period properties in the Cotswolds.
For this stage of the Kingham project, we worked on the barn conversion and the glass walkway connecting it to the main house. The goal was to seamlessly blend the new space with the aesthetic of the main property while creating a welcoming area for entertaining.
Sub-Floor Preparation: Laying the Foundation for Longevity
The barn featured a newly installed pump screed sub-floor, requiring specialized preparation:
- Grinding the surface to ensure a smooth and even base.
- Applying a paint-on damp-proof membrane to protect the engineered wood flooring from construction moisture.
- Using high-quality wood floor adhesive to guarantee stability and durability for generations to come.
The Finished Results
The final installation is a perfect reflection of Marcus and Paula’s vision, taste, and dedication to preserving the character of the property. The aged and tumbled engineered wood flooring beautifully complements the historic charm of the home while providing a modern, functional space for gatherings.
