External Brick Flooring Installation – Mazon Interiors Showroom, Leamington Spa
Mazon Flooring were proud to complete the external flooring installation at the Mazon Interiors showroom in Leamington Spa.
This project centred around the showroom’s outdoor kitchen area, a space designed to be fully used rather than simply displayed. Regularly used for cooking, hosting and client events, the flooring needed to perform under real conditions while complementing the wider design aesthetic of the space.
The BRIEF
The objective was to install a durable and visually cohesive external floor using a fired brick finish that worked naturally alongside the surrounding materials, including exposed brickwork, oak cabinetry and the covered timber structure.
The existing external screed base required preparation to refine the surface, build up levels and introduce the correct falls for drainage. As an exposed outdoor area, the flooring system also needed to withstand moisture, temperature changes and regular foot traffic while maintaining a premium finish.
Our Solution
Mazon Flooring managed the full preparation and installation process, ensuring the subfloor and finished surface worked together as a complete external flooring system.
The works included:
- Preparation of the existing screeded base.
- Application of Kelmore LevelMore Flex smoothing compound to raise floor levels, refine the surface and create accurate falls for drainage.
- Application of Kelmore Universal Primer to regulate the substrate and ensure strong adhesion between layers.
- Installation of the fired brick flooring using Kelmore More Flex S1 tile adhesive, selected for its strength and suitability for external applications.
- Grouting of the full area using Kelmore Grout Flex 15 in Charcoal 16 to provide a consistent finish that complemented the brick tones.
Using a full Kelmore system throughout the installation ensured consistency across every stage of the project, from subfloor preparation through to the final finish.
The Result
The completed flooring provides a durable, level and well-drained surface suited to regular external use.
The fired brick finish integrates naturally with the surrounding materials, reinforcing the overall design of the outdoor kitchen while creating a practical space for cooking, dining and hosting events.
Now fully in use, the area continues to perform exactly as intended, balancing functionality with a considered, design-led finish.
This project also highlights the importance of correct preparation in external environments. By focusing on the subfloor and using a consistent installation system throughout, the result is a floor built not only to look right, but to last.
