Albany Road – Engineered Herringbone Wood Flooring Installation
Mazon Flooring were delighted to collaborate with Pro Build 360 on the transformation of a family home in central Harborne. The clients were extending the rear of their property to create an open, seamless flow throughout the ground floor, and flooring played a key role in achieving this vision.
The Brief
The existing flooring was a tired laminate with a failing click system due to poor sub-floor preparation from the original installation. The clients wanted a timeless, high-quality floor that would enhance the sense of space, complement their new extension, and deliver both durability and elegance.
After visiting our central Birmingham showroom and reviewing samples, the clients chose an engineered oak herringbone floor with an invisible stain oil finish. This finish gives the soft, natural look of unfinished oak while offering full protection against spills, scratches, and day-to-day wear.
Our Solution
Mazon Flooring managed the full process from start to finish, including:
- Uplift and disposal of the existing laminate flooring (including areas beneath the fitted kitchen).
- Sub-floor preparation using plywood, smoothing compound, and a damp-proof membrane on newly screed areas.
- Precision installation of engineered herringbone wood flooring to ensure a consistent, flowing design across the entire ground floor.
The project was carefully managed to allow the family to remain living in the property throughout. Our installation team completed the majority of the flooring within 7 days.
The Result
The finished herringbone wood floor enhances the natural length of the property, creating a stunning sense of flow from the front entrance through to the new rear extension. The light-toned, invisible-oil finish brings a clean Scandinavian-inspired aesthetic, perfectly balancing warmth and modernity.
This project demonstrates how engineered herringbone wood flooring can completely transform a living space, offering both style and longevity.
