Vintage tumled parquet wood installation in Fulham

Mazon Flooring were pleased to be selected by our client in Fulham to come and install vintage tumbled parquet wood flooring to their kitchen, living and hallway.

Specialist fitters for tumbled herringbone wood flooring are few and far between, and understanding the nuances of the product are paramount to achieving a beautiful outcome that will last a lifetime.

Mazon Flooring had a huge amount of preparation work to do on the job, as the client had an EPS overfloor heating system in the main kitchen and living area, and had asked us to take care of the required floor smoothing over the system. This involved using a grit primer over the metal top layer, waiting for it to fully bond and dry, and then pouring a 12mm smoothing compound over the whole system. The process of installing the smoothing compound allows the heat to spread out and heat up the base evenly and reduces the impact on the finished wood floor. Mazon Flooring also installed a 6mm ply board over the section of original floorboard in the hallway.

Once all the sub-floor preparation work had been completed, we could undertake the installation of the parquet wood flooring in a herringbone installation pattern. The main kitchen and living area was installed before the kitchen and right up to the property walls leaving the required expansion gap. In the hallway, we installed a two planks border around the perimeter and onto a landing leading down to the lower ground floor.

The finished results are a work of art and a testament to old fashion skill and workmanship.
